Soapstone is a soft, natural metamorphic stone rich in talc. Our stone is mined and hand-selected in Southern Oregon and known for its smooth carving texture.

Is soapstone safe for kids and classrooms?

Yes. Soapstone is one of the safest carving stones available. With simple dust precautions, it is perfect for elementary through high school art programs.

What tools do I need to carve soapstone?

Basic hand tools such as rasps, files, chisels, sandpaper, and small carving tools work extremely well. Power tools are optional but not required.

How heavy are the raw soapstone blocks?

Our large carving blocks range from 35–40 lbs per piece. Smaller blocks and classroom pieces vary in size.

Can I buy soapstone in bulk?

Absolutely. We supply schools, clubs, artists, and landscape designers with bulk soapstone. Discounts are available for large orders.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. We ship to all U.S. states through trusted carriers. Larger landscape boulders may require freight shipping.

What color is your soapstone?

Our stone naturally varies in shades of gray, green, blue, brown, tan, creme, red and mixed patterns. Each piece is completely unique.

Can beginners carve soapstone?

Yes. Soapstone is one of the best stones for beginners because it is soft, consistent, and forgiving.
